Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee on cases of giving and receiving election bribes, as well as violating the ban on charity during elections, based on reports received from the Criminal Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Service.
According to the information received, a voter was offered an election bribe on the condition of voting for the party nominated in the special elections to Gyumri Community. Information was also received on the provision of firewood to voters as a commodity under the guise of charity, carrying out street paving works, promises of money for acquiring national costumes and other property, by the member of the party nominated in the elections to the same community, as well as by an authorized representative.
The Anti-Corruption Committee, together with the Criminal Police and the National Security Service, is taking the necessary measures to clarify all the circumstances of the above-mentioned cases and establish a clear circle of people involved in them.
The Anti-Corruption Committee urges all participants in the electoral process to demonstrate responsible behavior, to refrain from illegal actions that disrupt the normal process of the elections and assures that it will take equal measures together with other competent bodies to reveal and neutralize such acts of a corruptive nature. At the same time, the Committee expects the citizens interested in holding free and transparent elections to cooperate with law enforcement bodies, including by promptly reporting information about criminal offenses during the elections.
