The Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia Artur Nahapetyan received the delegation led by the U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Kristina Kvien, which also included Zachary Barter, Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Embassy, and Christina Afoyan, INL Criminal Justice Reform Program Manager.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee highly appreciated the support of the American partners in the establishment and development of the Committee and thanked them for their close cooperation in combatting corruption, including their active participation in the process of replenishing the structure with trained personnel and modern equipment. The Chairman of the Committee particularly stressed the ongoing support of the INL Bureau, aimed at developing the capabilities of the Anti-Corruption Committee and improving the professional knowledge of its employees. Noting that corruption crimes are transnational in nature, Artur Nahapetyan emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combatting corruption, including in the field of mutual legal assistance.
The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Kristina Kvien, thanking the newly appointed Chairman of the Committee for the warm welcome, emphasized that the American side truly values the already established effective partnership with the Anti-Corruption Committee.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee expressed hope that in the near future the areas and spheres of cooperation with the US Embassy will expand, ensuring a new level of bilateral interaction.
