The Chairman of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee Artur Nahapetyan and the management of the Committee participated in the conference entitled "Judiciary as a Tool for Achieving Justice", where issues of present-day challenges in the implementation of justice, the efficiency of the judicial system, increasing public trust in it, as well as the application of measures of restriction were discussed.
Edik Hakobyan, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, spoke on behalf of the RA Anti-Corruption Committee at the panel discussion of the conference. Issues of the application of measures of restriction and the assessment of their effectiveness were touched upon. In his speech, Edik Hakobyan, in particular, noted that one of the most important achievements of the current Criminal Procedure Code is the requirement to be guided by the principle of minimum in cases of application of measures of restriction, which means that the body conducting the proceedings must select from among the measures of restriction defined by the Code the one that least restricts human rights. From this perspective, according to Edik Hakobyan, when selecting measures of restriction, the body conducting the proceedings is guided by the principle of balancing public and private interests.
