The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia based on the materials received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia established that a person holding a senior position in the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia failed to fulfill his official duties, as a result of which damage in the amount of about AMD 3.7 million was caused to the legitimate interests of the state.

In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that the Police official, being aware that the senior inspector of the operational management center under his subordination did not appear at the place of serviceband did not fulfill his official duties within the period from April 8, 2022 to April 23, 2023, did not take the necessary measures to ensure his arrival at the place of service or to record the fact of his failure to appear at the place of the service and inform the higher management about it. As a result, under the conditions of the failure to fulfill his official duties by the inspector within the specified period, a large amount of salary and other equivalent payments totaling AMD 3,673,510 were accrued and paid in his name. For failure to fulfill official duties, the Police official was charged under Article 441 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

Based on the motion of the investigator of the Anti-Corruption Committee, his powers were suspended. The damage caused to the state in the amount of AMD 3,673,510 was fully restored by the accused during the preliminary investigation. The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed. The materials of the proceedings along with the indictment, have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor for approval and forwarding to the court.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
