An Officer of Goris Penitentiary Sold Drugs to a Convict in Exchange for a Bribe. The Criminal Proceedings are in Court

The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings investigated in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, established that on May 17, 2025, one of the convicts of Goris Penitentiary Institution of the RA Ministry of Justice offered an official of the Security Department of the same institution to use his official powers in exchange for a bribe to commit an illegal act - to sell drugs. Having accepted the offer to receive a bribe, the aforementioned official illegally acquired a significant amount of "Marijuana" on May 24, 2025, which he illegally transferred to the aforementioned penitentiary institution the next day, hidden in his clothes, with the purpose of selling for profit.

However, the official was unable to enter the institution's territory, as he had previously been detained by police officers who had found drugs during a personal search of the latter. The official of “Goris” Penitentiary Institution was charged under Article 435, Part 2, Clause 3 and Article 393, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 5 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Custody was applied as a measure of restriction against him.

The convict of the same penitentiary institution was charged under Article 436, Part 2, Clause 3 and Article 44-396, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia together with an indictment.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
