The preliminary investigation conducted within criminal proceedings examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia established that the person holding the position in one of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia in Shirak Marz until June 2025, used his official powers or the influence deriving therefrom to receive money under the pretext of mediating a bribe.
Specifically, a resident of Gyumri, Shirak marz, addressed the official to obtain a driving license. Assuring the applicant that he had acquaintances among officials who, in exchange for a bribe, could unlawfully arrange the issuance of a driving license within 20 days, he received approximately AMD 600,000 in 2025 under the pretext of bribery mediation.
However, after receiving the funds, the former police officer did not transfer them to any official and took no steps to fulfill the promise made.
He has been charged under Article 440, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia for receiving money under the pretext of bribery mediation.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings, together with the indictment, have been referred to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
