Cases of Violating the Ban on Charity and Obstructing the Free Exercise of Electoral Rights Have Been Revealed

As a result of measures carried out by officers of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, factual data were obtained indicating that a supporter of the “Armenia” alliance of parties and head of the alliance’s office in the town of Spitak, after the entry into force on February 7, 2026 of the Presidential Decree calling regular National Assembly elections, and despite the legislative ban on charity activities during the electoral period, gratuitously provided money to a voter residing in Lori marz.

In addition, together with other individuals, he obstructed the free exercise of the electoral rights of a resident of the same province by threatening the use of violence against that person.

A criminal proceeding has been initiated at the Anti-Corruption Committee in connection with the incident. Several persons have been detained, searches have been conducted, and other procedural actions have been carried out.

The Anti-Corruption Committee states that ensuring the legality of electoral processes remains one of its priorities, and all election-related offenses continue to be at the center of the Committee’s daily attention. The Committee reminds the public that both offering and receiving electoral bribes are punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven to eight years. Citizens are urged to refrain from any unlawful interference in the electoral process and to ensure the free expression of voters’ will.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
