The preliminary investigation carried out under the criminal proceedings investigated in the RA Anti-Corruption Committee has established that the deputy battalion commander of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, having entered into a preliminary agreement with the storekeeper of the same military unit, used his official authority to commit embezzlement of large volumes of diesel fuel as part of a group.
In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that the deputy battalion commander of the military unit did not store the excess 700 liters of diesel fuel in the warehouse, but instead turned to the platoon commander of the same military unit to sell it and find a buyer, after which the fuel was taken out of the military unit in the buyer's car and sold, and the money was divided between the mentioned persons. The preliminary investigation also revealed that afterwards, they tried to take another 2 tons of diesel fuel out of the military unit in the same car for the purpose of selling it again, but the members of the group were unable to complete the criminal act, as the storekeeper was arrested and transferred to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Charges were brought against the deputy battalion commander and the storekeeper of the military unit for embezzlement and attempted embezzlement under Article 256, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 2 and Articles 44-256, Part 2, Clauses 1, 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Charges were also brought against the platoon commander and the fuel buyer. Home arrest was applied against the latter as a measure of restriction. During the preliminary investigation, the damage caused to the state was fully recovered.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia with an indictment.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
