Facts of bribery by officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been revealed; the preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed

As a result of evidentiary and other procedural actions carried out under the criminal proceedings investigated in the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, it was established that two employees of the Economic Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, by prior agreement, as part of a group, using the influence caused by their official position, received a bribe for patronage and committing illegal actions in favor of the director of a commercial organization.

In particular, the preliminary investigation revealed that on February 22, 2025, the above-mentioned officials accepted the proposal to organize the procedure for recognizing the winner of the tender for the installation of gas safety alarm systems for heating systems installed in 150 units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in exchange for a bribe, after which they demanded from the director of the organization 10 percent of the installation of one unit of the system supplied within the framework of the contract to be signed, for AMD 96,000 AMD, or AMD 9,600.

In addition, one of the said officials in 2024 received a bribe from the director of another organization for ensuring the procedure of recognizing the winner of the relevant tender for the purchase of material resources for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia were charged under Article 435, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 3 and Article 435, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and the director of the organization that gave the bribe was charged under Article 436, Part 2, Clause 3 and Article 436, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings, together with the indictment, have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.

Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
