The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings examined by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, established that a specialist of the “Chess Research Institute” of the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan abused official powers and embezzled a total of AMD 5,336,916.
In particular, it was established that the director of the above-mentioned institution, being aware that the specialist did not attend work and failed to perform his job duties, included false information in official documents regarding the specialist’s attendance at work, thereby facilitating the embezzlement by the latter of funds in the especially large amount of AMD 5,336,916.
In addition, the person holding the position of the vice-rector of the university, while being aware that the specialist did not attend work and failed to fulfill his duties, took no measures to terminate the latter’s status or suspend salary payments.
Charges were brought against the vice-rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Khachatur Abovyan, the specialist of the “Chess Research Institute,” and the institute’s director under Article 441, Part 2, Clause 2; Article 255, Part 3, Clause 3; Article 46-255, Part 3, Clause 3; and Article 445, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
During the preliminary investigation, the accused fully compensated for the damage caused.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceeding, together with the indictment, have been referred to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
