The preliminary investigation conducted under the criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, based on operational-search measures carried out by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, has established that an official of Brusov State University abused his official powers by accepting bribes in exchange for providing patronage.
In particular, the preliminary investigation established that the department head organized the process of granting unscheduled leave to two lecturers of the same department during the academic process and redistributing their teaching hours to other lecturers. In return, he accepted bribes of varying amounts in October 2025.
In addition, the department head accepted an offer of a bribe from a doctoral candidate in exchange for patronage, namely, ensuring the smooth organization of the dissertation defense process. In December 2025, he received a piece of gold jewelry as a bribe from the candidate.
The department head has been charged under Article 435, Part 2, Clause 3 (three episodes) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and the three lecturers who offered the bribes have been charged under Article 436, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code. A ban on absence and suspension from office were applied as measures of restriction against the department head.
The preliminary investigation under the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings, together with the indictment, have been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor for approval and subsequent submission to the court.
Notification. the person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code by a verdict entered into legal force.
